The waiting time finally comes to an end. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is finally here. However, before you plunge into multiplayer and run the risk of drowning and singing, you should read our tips.
1. Learn the tactics in the campaign
This may sound strange at first, but when you think about it, it actually makes sense. Before venturing into the battles in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer, you should tackle the shooter’s single-player campaign first.
The campaign is more intimate than previous series and focuses on tactics and cautious movements in some missions. It’s a great way to look up a few tricks for multiplayer – and you will learn the controls as well.
Pro Tip # 1: Carefully move from cover to cover in multiplayer if you want to take on mission goals. In team deathmatches you should stay close to your teammates.
2. Try weapons and find the ones that suit you
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare awaits you with a variety of weapons. From pistols to MPs and assault rifles to shotguns, heavy machine guns and sniper rifles. All weapons come with their own stats and differ in damage, range, rate of fire, or control, for example.
Stats are fine, but a weapon that has better values on paper than another does not necessarily suit you. Again, we recommend the Campaign or the cooperative Spec Ops mode, in the course of which you get numerous shoots with different essays in the fingers.
Try out as many weapons as possible and choose the ones that suit you best. As you unlock new weapons in multiplayer, you should not hesitate to try out them all. It is not worth playing with the same rifle from the beginning to maximum level 55.
Pro Tip # 2: Assault rifles like the M4A1 and the FR 556 are suitable for many situations in both close and long range combat. The mighty FAL has a low rate of fire, but it is very powerful. Also, MPs are a valid option, especially on tight maps.
3. Get the weapon attachments
The weapon attachments we have already mentioned. In fact, it often pays off to invest in an already unlocked weapon. An assault rifle you’ve unlocked a variety of attatchments is almost always stronger than a new weapon with no extra gear.
It may take a while to unlock a new essay. After all, for the ascents in the weapons ranks, which reward you with optical weapons camouflage, numerous kills and completed matches are necessary. However, the effort is worthwhile in some cases.
The Gunsmith menu gives you an excellent overview of all the essays that you can unlock for a particular weapon. You will also see what pros and cons they have and how they affect different stats.
Try different essays and find the one that best suits your style of play. An average of 50 essays per weapon in 8 categories are available to you. You can attach a maximum of five attachments to a weapon.
Pro Tip # 3: A good visor is mandatory, a heavy or light shaft (depending on the preferred style of play) is recommended. The under-frame handle increases your precision at the expense of sprint speed, but it’s always worth it.
4. Re-loads while aiming
One of the coolest things about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is that you will not be thrown out of target mode when reloading. Especially in the heat of the moment this nice little feature is invaluable. So, you can keep an eye on the enemies, understand their movements, and reload your weapon. Shooter veterans have to get used to it.
5. Create classes for different game modes
Team Deatchmatch, Ground War, Free-for-All or even Search&Destroy? The shooter comes up with several multiplayer modes, all of which sometimes make different demands on you.
Once you’ve reached level 4, you can cobble together your own soldier in the class editor and choose weapons, perks, gear, and Killstreaks yourself. It’s best to set up classes for different game modes, allowing you to switch between them at the touch of a button.
For example, in realism mode, it takes you to nocturnal variants of familiar maps, where you cannot get far without a night vision device. However, if you look through the device, red dot sights are not displayed. The weapon attachment is completely useless in this mode.
Familiarize yourself with the different requirements of the game modes and create classes that are useful for each option.
Pro Tip # 4: Be sure to create a class with an assault rifle to be prepared for anything. An MP and Sniper class are also useful. Also, pay attention to the different perks: for example, there are some that will alert you to nearby enemies – especially useful in hardcore options or modes without a mini-map.
6. Think of your field upgrades
Field upgrades are another novelty in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and work much like the Killstreaks. With the difference that the upgrades become active only after some time.
The charge rate is not specified in seconds, but divided from slow to fast. A total of nine field kits are in the game. Use them when the opportunity presents itself. The following field upgrades are available in the game:
- Enlightenment Drone (Charge Rate: Slow): Remote-controlled drone that marks enemies.
- Ammo Box (Medium): Create a box of ammo and gear for you in your team.
- Special Ammunition Missiles (Slow): Special ammo that inflicts additional damage.
- Trophy System (Fast): Deployable autonomous defense system that destroys up to three nearby equipment and projectiles.
- Tactical Entry (Fast): Marks a position on the map as the next respawn point.
- Mobile coverage (Fast): Portable, quick-deploy ballistic coverage.
- EMP Drone: Fires an EMP charge at a target position that disables all surrounding electronics.
- Deathly silence (fast): steps become quieter for a short time, and kills increase the duration.
- Weapon Delivery (Medium): Lets supply some strong weapons for your team to your position.
Pro Tip # 5: Dead silence and the tactics are great. The drone and ammo box in target-based game modes are also useful.
7. Use the fast sprint
Modern Warfare offers two sprint variations to move faster across the map. On the one hand, there is the well-known Sprint, which you activate by pressing the corresponding button. By the way, it works even faster by pressing the button twice.
This can be useful for quickly escaping from a dangerous position, but it also has its drawback: While you can continue to aim in the normal sprint, with the faster variant, you lift your weapon and cannot immediately respond to approaching enemies.
Pro Tip # 6: Uses the quick sprint to quickly bridge or cover up open areas on the map, for example. Otherwise, it better fits the normal variant.
8. Look for alternative ways
A sniper or camper sets you up? Then, look for alternative ways. The maps in the new Call of Duty have been designed to allow different approaches. Even the attic of a multi-storey house usually has several access routes. With the new climbing mechanics, you can climb windows or squeeze through walls. There are almost always different ways, you just have to find them.
9. Doors: Your friend and helper
The doors have a special function, they shone in their predecessors largely by absence. For example, this time you are able to open doors in the sprint. This is very loud, but offers you a moment of surprise.
However, they also provide a tactical advantage: If you aim through the visor, you can open a door slowly and even open only a crack to throw a grenade. It’s also important to know that you can shoot through doors through doors.
The entrances are also perfect as a trap. If you open an account, this is guaranteed to alert your opponents. You can use that to your advantage.
10. Adjust the crossplay if you do not like it
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare offers the ability to play across platforms with players on other systems. An ingenious feature that took a long time to come. You do not want to play as a console player with PClern? Then the Crossplay simply turns off in the options. So you make sure that you stay on your platform among you.
It is also good to know that the crossplay is input-related. So if you just want to play with other players who also use a controller, you can do just that.
